How does getting a motorcycle license work?<\/strong><\/h1>\n

And yes, today we've decided to tackle an unavoidable subject: the motorcycle license<\/strong>\u00a0!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Indeed, we know that most of you already have it, but we hope to have motivated some of our followers to take it and come ride with us<\/strong>\u00a0So we thought we'd make your life easier by saving you the trouble of doing the research yourself; who knows, maybe it will allow you to cross the threshold<\/strong>\u00a0! \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

The different types of motorcycle licenses\u2026<\/strong><\/h4>\n

First of all, you need to know that the motorcycle license<\/strong> includes 3 categories<\/strong>\u00a0:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • A1 (for those under 18)<\/li>\n
  • A2 (required to obtain a category A license)<\/li>\n
  • A<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    If this is your first time taking one of these tests, the exam will proceed as follows:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • The theoretical test<\/strong> (Theory test or ETM \u2013 Motorcycle Theory Test). The theory test is valid for 5 years from the date of issue, and is extended for another 5 years from the date of validation of your motorcycle license. Your theory test must be valid when you take the two motorcycle license tests (off-road and on-road).<\/li>\n
    • The practical test<\/strong> distinguished in 2 categories\u00a0<\/strong>:
      \nOff-road (platform)<\/strong> ; which also includes theoretical questions from the instructor on the 12 motorcycle fact sheets<\/em> to know on the day of the exam. This part lasts approximately 17 minutes<\/em>.
      \nIn circulation; ;<\/strong> this part lasts approximately 35 minutes.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Now that you have "familiarized" yourself with the different tests, let's move on to the specifics of each license, so that you can choose the one best suited to your situation!<\/p>\n

       <\/p>\n

      The A1 license: <\/u><\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n

      The A1 license allows you to drive motorcycles 125 cc<\/strong> whose power does not exceed 11 kW.<\/strong> It is accessible from 16 years old<\/strong> following the obtaining of the ASSR or ASR.<\/p>\n

       <\/p>\n

      This permit is also available to the people who already have a permit<\/strong> (B for example) and wishing to ride light motorcycles. For these people, obtaining a license is only possible through a 7-hour training<\/strong> (2 hours of theory, 2 hours of off-road practice and 3 hours of on-road practice).<\/p>\n

       <\/p>\n

      The A2 license: <\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n

      Unlike the A1 license, which is not mandatory to obtain an A license, the A2 license is a necessary step <\/strong>to drive larger motorcycles. However, this license allows you to drive motorcycles whose speed does not exceed the 35 kW<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

      You need to have Minimum age 18<\/strong> to get past this last one.<\/p>\n

       <\/p>\n

      Category A driving licence: <\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n

      It allows you to drive a vehicle with a power output exceeding 35 kW; and since it requires prior authorization from A2 license for at least 2 years<\/strong>, It only requires completing a 7-hour training course to obtain it.<\/p>\n

      Once you've reached this stage, congratulations my riders, you've reached the maximum level<\/strong> And now you can drive whatever you like!<\/p>\n

      These steps may seem tedious, but it's worth the effort, please let us know. trust\u00a0<\/strong>! \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

      Having defined the "technical" aspects of the motorcycle license, we will now move on to the budget<\/strong> necessary to complete the process (not counting the purchase of a motorcycle, of course).<\/p>\n

      THE BUDGET:<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n

      If you need to retake the theory test and your memories are still fairly "fresh", you can register on your own and for free as independent candidate<\/strong> to retake it. Registration takes place at the prefecture and you will receive a summons with an exam date within 6 months (generally sent 3 weeks before the test).<\/p>\n

      Of course, you will need to practice using a book and\/or software, but this solution allows you to save between \u20ac100 and \u20ac150<\/strong> by avoiding the use of a motorcycle school.<\/p>\n

      The drawback:<\/strong> There's no need to rush! \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

       <\/p>\n

      Regarding the basic package<\/strong>, it is generally understood between \u20ac500 and \u20ac1,000<\/strong> for an A2 or A license with a base of 8 PM<\/strong> driving.<\/p>\n

      However, you will often need more than 20 hours to fully master "the beast," which is why you should inquire about the cost of overtime<\/strong> which can generally vary between \u20ac35 and \u20ac45<\/strong> according to the motorcycle school.<\/p>\n

      Regulations stipulate that it must not exceed the cost of\u20191 hour 30 minute lesson<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

       <\/p>\n

      While we wish you the best of luck on your first attempt, another important factor to consider is the cost of each additional attempt. Driving schools typically charge around \u20ac100 per extra attempt.<\/p>\n

      Quick Tip\u00a0<\/strong>Some motorcycle schools include 2 to 3 demonstrations in the off-road skills test\u2026 It's up to you to negotiate well \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

       <\/p>\n

      And finally, last but not least: the budget to plan for mandatory equipment.<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Indeed, on the day of the exam, you will need to equip yourself with:<\/p>\n

        \n
      • A certified helmet (between \u20ac100 and \u20ac500)<\/li>\n
      • From a motorcycle jacket (same)<\/li>\n
      • Gloves (between \u20ac50 and \u20ac100)<\/li>\n
      • High-top shoes (between \u20ac25 and \u20ac150)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
