WHEELS AND WAVES

THE DEPARTURE

In mid-June we were at the event Wheels and Waves in Biarritz, it was for us a big step of the season and the evolution of our brand! We decided to share this great experience with you through an article!

Our adventure begins on Tuesday morning, aboard Bobby, our van and faithful traveling companion. First stop: the garage Steel Bike Concept in Bordeaux to pick up our custom motorbike: Gaby (yes, we like to give names to our machines)!

We take the road towards Wheels and waves, on the way we see lots of bikers going down towards the South! Arriving in Biarritz in the rain, we start setting up the stand… After some physical effort and some reflection (because a beautiful stand is the key to success ;)) we decide to finalize everything the next morning, hoping that the weather will be better!

No time to stop and relax, we rush to the opening night of the video of the Belharra beer with our friends the preparers from EMD Workers in the shop DEUS from the center of Biarritz. As soon as we arrived we noticed a crowd with a rock and badass style as we like it! We were surprised by the number of people present! The festival has not yet started but already a good part of the bikers are there. They come from everywhere! Spain, Italy, Russia, England, USA some even arrived by motorbike from Denmark or even Poland. Always a pleasure to meet these bikers from such different backgrounds. The setting is great between the DEUS shop, the atmosphere in the café, the motorcycles on display and the well-rehearsed DJ. The only downside: the queue for the beer that never seems to empty!

THE FIRST DAY

The time has come for our first day in the village. It's time to take care of the details, to welcome everyone with a big smile and a hell of a lot of energy! It's also an opportunity for us to meet our festival neighbours who are none other than the PDF Motorcycle <- go watch this sick video!! Pleasant surprise for us because we couldn't have dreamed of anything better: between their super stylish motorcycles (one of which almost got bought by Brad Pitt), their Italian class, their desire to party and their natural kindness, we were next to the best!

MARY IS HER FIRST IN THE WALL OF DEATH

"After hearing the announcement of the 'wall of death', set up by Indian Motorcycle and our friends from INFERNAL VARANNE, I decide to go and find out what's hidden in this giant barrel! No need to tell me twice, I'm running to understand how a motorcycle can actually ride horizontally on a wall?!

Once installed above the huge cylinder, the question still resonates in my head, and, as soon as the show begins, I am amazed by this performance as crazy as it is impressive! Someone could almost get hit by a wheel as they pass by, the drivers climb so high. We could believe that the show ends there, but NO! The driver offers us incredible figures, without hands, feet on the handlebars and I admit that my heart was beating at 100 an hour, I must have been even more stressed than him!

It was only at the end of the show and to my great surprise, that I learned that the demonstration that this activity is absolutely not insured in the event of injury 😮 … that's what we call having a sense of spectacle!

DURING WHEELS AND WAVES

The days go by, each with its share of encounters. The customers who crossed France by motorbike for the festival come to tell us about their journeys and we love it! All these stories are really great. Chatting and exchanging on our collections, our experiences or taking advice and comments, this is what allows us to evolve and adapt to the realities of the market but also to the desires of customers!

And then it must be said that it allows us to obtain feedback from the organized races that we cannot attend, and whether it is for the hill climb: the punk's peak sprint race, there deus swank rally or even the The roll flat track race everyone looked won over and delighted!

In terms of entertainment, we were lucky enough to attend a fighter jet flight organized by Breitling! Despite the inclement weather, this air show was pretty badass, with planes flying over our heads (no, I'm not exaggerating at all)!

It was Saturday night between 8pm and 10pm that our stand was transformed! Thanks to our Italian friends from PDF and their great sound system, our stands became a fiery dance floor, to the great delight of the visitors who came to toast and dance with us! The sunset in this atmosphere was simply magical! We were all smiling and dancing, a beer in hand, on a bench, a barrel, with an Indian headdress on our heads... In short, fun!!! A moment of sharing as we like!

After this crazy start to the evening, we decided to go to the brand's 5th anniversary party Kytone direction California Kitchen! Very nice and relaxed atmosphere until 2am, when the engines started to roar and the tires to warm up! It's time to choose between going home quietly to sleep the next day and going clubbing to enjoy a few more hours... And guess where we went... 😉 haha!

THE END

Sunday was a fairly peaceful day. Some had already taken their motorbikes back from their roadtrip… It was also time for us to say “goodbye” to everyone, especially our neighbours, whom we promised to visit in Bergamo! A last day that always passes with a mixture of heartache and happiness at having been able to share all these moments together!

But hey, after all, it's only postponed, since we're going back next year! 😉
